Mulilo appoints Freddie Meyer CFO
Renewable energy independent power producer Mulilo has appointed Freddie Meyer as its CFO, effective from April 1, succeeding Russell Bedford who is retiring after 13 years at the company.
Meyer has more than 30 years of experience in the finance functions of Eskom and a JSE- and NYSE-listed organisation. He most recently served as the CFO of Sasol International Chemicals, where he was responsible for financial strategy, capital allocation and was instrumental in the reset efforts of the business.
Prior to this, he held several senior positions within Sasol, gaining deep expertise in corporate finance, large-scale investment projects and financial governance, Mulilo says.
During his tenure at Eskom, Meyer gained experience in the full power generation project development life cycle, thereby equipping him with invaluable insights into South Africa’s energy landscape.
“Freddie's vast financial expertise, coupled with his deep understanding of the energy sector, makes him the ideal CFO to support our ambitious growth plans. As we continue to develop and expand our sizable renewable-energy pipeline, Freddie’s leadership will be critical in ensuring strong financial discipline, securing strategic investments, and driving sustainable value creation,” says Mulilo CEO Jan Fourie.
“Freddie’s appointment is the result of a rigorous search process to find a financial leader who can help guide Mulilo through its next phase of growth. His experience in both the power generation and chemicals industries, coupled with his record of financial excellence, makes him a valuable addition to our leadership team,” says Mulilo chairperson Jan Oberholzer.
“We look forward to working with him to further solidify Mulilo’s position as a leader in South Africa’s renewable-energy transition,” he says.
“I am honoured to be joining Mulilo at such an exciting time for both the company and the renewable-energy sector in South Africa. Mulilo has established itself as a key player in the country’s energy transition, and I look forward to working alongside the team to drive financial innovation and support the company’s long-term success,” says Meyer.
